Fluosilicic Acid (H2SiF6) is produced in large quantities as a waste product during the convertion of phosphate rock to phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizers.
The technology offered by BUSS ChemTech AG, inherited from Swiss Aluminium Ltd. (Alusuisse), uses fluosilicic acid (H2SiF6) as a raw material and presents therefore an economic route for the production of aluminium fluoride which is known as low bulk density.
Low-bulk density (LBD) AlF3 is one of two variants of the product, one of higher and one of lower density. The two variants have different production processes. The LBD process is known as the “wet process” and uses recycled fluorine instead of fluorspar which is mined. Around 10% of the world’s AlF3 installed capacity is low-bulk density and has a limited market.
BUSS ChemTech AG offers both HBD and LBD versions of AlF3.
