Process Operator – Pilot Plant (m/f)

(Chemical Technician / Industrial Electrician / Automation Specialist)

Your role:

You will operate sophisticated gas-liquid reaction processes with critical substances on a pilot scale. Depending on your profile (chemical technician or electrical/automation engineer), you will focus on different areas of the safe, efficient, and documented operation of our test facilities.

Your tasks:

Common to all profiles:

  • Independent execution of pilot tests (15 to 50 liter reactors), including prepration of input materials, setup and leak checks, and starting up and shutting down the plant.
  • Monitoring, control, and complete documentation (batch/operating logs) in close cooperation with our process development personnel.
  • Consistent implmentation of operational and occupational safety (SOPs, PPE) as well as order and cleanliness in your area of responsibility.
  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and participation in infrastructure, improvement, and investment projects.

Focus on chemistry/operations (chemical technician):

  • Conducting gas-liquid reactions (e.g., hydrogenation) including process analysis (pH, temperature, pressure, flow) and sampling.
  • Processing of products (filtration, distillation, crystallization) and raw-/auxiliary material handling.

Focus on electrical engineering and automation (industrial electrician/automation specialist):

 

  • Maintenance, testing, and calibration of sensors/actuators (pressure, temperature, flow, scales, valves).
  • First-level support for PLC/control systems (Siemens S7/TIA Portal or ABB HMI/SCADA), troubleshooting switch cabinets, frequency converters, and field devices.
  • Assisting with design automation adjustments ()signal tests, I/O checks) in pilot plants.

Your Profile:

Must-haves:

  • Completed basic training as a chemical technician or chemical & pharmaceutical technologist, or as an industrial electrician/automation specialist (or equivalent).
  • Technical understanding, meticulous working style, and manual dexterity; enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Very good German language skills; English is an advantage.

Nice-to-haves:

 

  • Experience with gas-liquid reactions (e.g., hydrogenation), pressure vessels, and pilot plants.
  • Practical experience with measurement and control technology, calibration, and reading P&IDs.
  • Basic knowledge of ATEX/explosion protection and chemical safety.
